Of the four female composers who wrote oratorios for the Imperial Court in Vienna in the
early 18th Century, de Rossi has the most surviving music. She is identified on the manuscripts as “Romana” indicating a Roman origin, but except for the existence of the music and the record of performances in Vienna, that is all we know about her.
